Hey there, San Francisco.

Happy Friday! The weekend awaits, so let’s get right into it…

Quick bits: News to know

Final, updated supervisor map / Via redistricting task force

🗺 San Francisco’s redistricting task force approved a final map on Thursday for the city’s new supervisor districts. The process, which takes place every ten years, took “46 meetings, 230 hours and thousands of public comments” to complete, Mission Local’s Will Jarrett noted.

  • The biggest change? The Tenderloin will now be a part of District 5, instead of District 6.

  • Other changes include Seacliff and Presidio Terrace into District 1, Inner Sunset into District 7, and Cole Valley into District 8.

  • The new lines are effective immediately, a city attorney said on Thursday, so if you live in one of the areas noted above, meet your new supervisor here. Note that supervisors in even-numbered districts will be up for re-election in November. (Mission Local / Bay Area Reporter)

🤠 A prominent cattle rancher has offered Elon Musk 100 free acres if he moves Twitter’s headquarters to Schwertner, Texas (38 miles north of Austin).

  • “This has always been a rural area for agriculture, but it’s changing fast,” Jim Schwertner, the rancher, said. “And so we thought, why not let Elon Musk be the catalyst to make it happen?” (KXAN)

⏱ The SFMTA is reporting that the new Van Ness bus lanes, which debuted earlier this month, are cutting commute times up to 35% (or, 9 minutes) per trip. (Examiner)

💼 Brian Chesky, CEO of San Francisco-based Airbnb, told employees Thursday that they can live and work anywhere they’d like.

  • “The best people live everywhere, not concentrated in one area,” Chesky said in a company-wide email announcing the news.

  • Notably, Cheskey also said that if an employee decided to move, their “compensation won’t change.” (Chronicle)
