Hey there, San Francisco.

Cookie vending machines powered by Mountain View startup Tortoise / Photo via Tortoise

Happy Friday.

While you’re enjoying the weekend at Crissy Field or Dolores Park, keep your eyes peeled for a robot roaming around, selling cookies.

SFGATE published a story today about Oakland-based Bake Sum, which has partnered with a local robotics startup to bring its baked goods to San Francisco park-goers. The price: 2 for $7.

“It’s actually a great way for us to… get a little bit more exposure in areas that we don’t normally get to,” Bake Sum owner Joyce Tang told SFGATE. “So I think it’s fun, and it makes it a lot more convenient to get our pastries.”

Whether proper permits have been obtained for robot-vending is still TBD.

For now, if you see Leonardo (the name Bake Sum has given its robot) and you have a hankering for something sweet, make sure to say hi.

And with that…onto the news…

I’m disgusted with it.” (SF Standard / Chronicle)

And finally…6th graders talk remote learning

The SF Standard ran a powerful video on Friday with reporter Sarah Write asking a group of 6th grade students what it was like to learn from home over the past two years.

“When we were on Zoom, I barely did anything,” one student said. “So I had no idea what was going on.”

The 5-minute video is worth a watch.

That’s all for today! Thanks so much for reading y’all. Have a wonderful weekend and I’ll see you back here next week. - Nick B.
