Hey there, San Francisco.
I'm thrilled to announce that Axios has acquired The SF Minute!
It’s big news, I know. So let’s walk through everything (and practice our new “Smart Brevity” style).
Context: I started The SF Minute last year to create an easy way to stay on top of local news. And the response has been incredible.
Thousands of people read the newsletter each day and hundreds are paying members.
Yes, but: Running a newsletter is like running a small business. It's exciting, but there's tons of behind the scenes stuff (from marketing to bookkeeping) that takes up valuable time.
Why it matters: Joining Axios will let me focus on writing and reporting and making the newsletter the best it can be. Plus, we'll soon hire a second reporter to bring you even more original stories and scoops.
I’ll also have an editor! And, a bunch of other resources as Axios Local expands.
What's next: The SF Minute will continue to exist for a bit longer. But in the next couple of months, you can expect to see it become Axios San Francisco.
You can sign up for Axios San Francisco here.
The bottom line: I'm so excited for this next chapter because the mission at Axios is exactly aligned with what I’ve tried to accomplish at The SF Minute. That is, cover the news in a way that’s enjoyable and makes you, the reader, smarter each day.
I can't thank you enough for making The SF Minute such a success and so much fun to write. And I can't wait for what’s next.
